I followed her recipe exactly and then after they were cooked and rolled in sugar, I used a cake icing piper and pushed a hole into the side of each doughnut and squirted in some jam or some Nutella chocolate spread. Absolutely delicious and so light and airy! An absolute hit with the family especially the husband who seemed to be reeling in shock at my cooking success all evening! Nothing I have cooked has ever had that effect, lol!
Such an easy thing to make, especially if you have a breadmaker to do the kneading and rising stages for you. If you love doughnuts, I urge you to try the recipe!

Aslamu alakum sister
what a lovely batch of doughnuts mashaallah well done sister! Can i ask you to picture the device you used for the jaming, also where can i buy it? i think they look just lovely sister MashaAllah!
Alaikum salaam
The plastic rigid one is in the dishwasher at the moment and the soft one is soaking so no pic yet. I think what I meant was a piping bag. You know, the things you can put icing or whipped cream in a pipe it nicely onto a cake... maybe that is clearer. ;) Let me Google... there is this type:

...and there is also one which is more like a syringe with plunger. I have both. Does that make more sense? =)
Ya allah.....do you KNOW how long I've had a craving to make doughnuts for???
I'm going to make some today insha'allah......
Assalamu alaikum,
Masha'allah they look so yummm...there goes the diet :P well maybe i'll wait a while first. Last time i tried jam doughnuts they tasted very yeasty and i wasnt overly impressed. It was so not worth the effort, mind you that was before I got my breadmaker (which seems to be just sitting here gathering dust ehhe). So insha'allah this one will be on my to do list...one day insha'allah.
ahhh a piping bag puts me in the picture now sister shuran will try to get one inshaAllah. great doughnuts BTW mashaAllah.
Insha'allah you manage to find one soon sis Rainbow so you can make nice authentic Brit doughnuts, lol! It's those simple Brit things that I miss when I am overseas... (well you know that long sausages discussion, so it's not just me, lol!). Btw, just finished making another batch which I intend to fill tomorrow inshaAllah. :-)
Wow - they look scrumptious! Thanks for the tip on where to get the recipe - and thanks Rainbow in the Grey Sky for sharing. I can hardly wait to make them!!!
They look scrumptious!! I want to try...is that chocolate inside?! Yuuummm.
MashaAllah, keep up the lovely cooking.
OK, I've got to be getting back to my mountain of paperwork now.
:)
Assalaamu'alaykum dear sis,
I've got a stupid question.
You pipe in the filling AFTER you fry the doughnuts, right?
There will be space?
:p Sorry.. a bit daft..
Assalaamu alaikum,
Yes Rayhana... I pipe the filling in after thay are cooked. You poke the piping nozzle in and make a hole and the jam/Nutella MAKES space! I haven't tried putting the filling in before they are cooked, could be messy in the frying oil though if they burst. I'm sure the doughnuts we buy in the UK have a hole in the side where the filling has been added later...!
