Rains in Riyadh...

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

It rained yesterday afternoon! OK, so admittedly it wasn't exactly a torrential downpour however, coming from the UK where rains are frequent (and not always entirely welcome), there was a certain charm to be had, sitting in the car stuck in weekend traffic with the rain drops coming down on the windscreen and the skies changing from the sandstorm orange we have become accustomed to of late to a more UK-reminiscent grey. =)

Funny the things you miss when you are away from your own country - sometimes it can be the very things you thought you were escaping from that (metaphorically speaking) 'brighten your day'!

Edited to add: More rain today, not a lot but still... ;) A bit of thunder and lightening too, yay!

I counted about 27 raindrops on the car windscreen today.....it's May, it never rains in May! I remember the rains in Riyadh, most notably how drivers didn't know how to cope with it!
I almost felt homesick when I saw the photos of Fawlty Towers (Faisaliah) & 'Kingdom' centre :-) I'm one of those strange expat females that actually enjoyed living in Saudi.
Nice blog hon :-)

Hee hee, don't you get rain in Canada Ammena?! Oh well, not long to wait now. ;)

Jayne: Niceto hear about an expat liking Saudi! You must've been here fairly recently then if you remember the towers. LOL @ Fawlty Towers, haven't heard that one before. I have heard Kingdom Centre referred to as Pokemon Tower though!

Jawharah - me too, as you can tell! LOL

Assalamu alaikom,
Oh man, rain is something I don't think I could ever miss! When the sky is gray and everything is damp, I just wanna go back to bed! I guess I wouldn't last long in the UK, huh? Yeah, Ammena, what's the difference between rain where you are now and rain in the UK? Just frequency?

I definately do not miss the rain, but that is because here in the UK we pretty much live with it constantly these days lol! But i bet it is welcome ocassionally in hot countries.
I need to learn how to add pic's and stuff to my blog....
