This beautiful piece of Arabesque architecture surprisingly is La Grande Poste in central Algiers and was built in 1910.The steps you can see leading down in the photograph below lead to the metro station although Algiers is still awaiting completion of that project.

I loved the area around le grand poste. the shopping was lovely. I might be planning a little trip to algeria again in march or april if I can convince my husband inshaAllah.
you are making me miss Algeria now too ukti :( I must say i do like the shopping in uptown algers but window shopping often.

UmmA: Yes the project has been going for a while but I believe they are working on it again so maybe it will get finished soon... much like the airport that came to a standstill for a long time but is now finished and operational.
