Mechanics in Algeria


Gotta give it to the car mechanics here in Algeria...they must be good judging by the age of some of the cars you see on the road with the engine actually running and propelling the car forwards!

The Renault 4 in the pic below was a 1967 model (older than me, LOL) and I snapped the pic just before it drove off. It was obviously a very successful model of car as I have seen older on the roads, I also saw an 1959 model I think.

lol they sound like the mechanics in Egypt. I have been in taxis that seemed like they were going to fall apart, let alone get us anywhere! Somehow they always manage to amaze me though.

Some of the cars you see really are amazing. They look like they are held together by rust, parts missing, but filled to the brim of people and doing the job of getting from A to B so alhamdu Lillah! LOL

i am just back from a long trek to the cycle repair shop which are few i may add in the west! Well a lovely bike can not be fixed my sons bike! It will cost me over £30 when i paid £25 for it in june, i felt so sad that we live in a throw away society such waste, i told the man at the repair shop if i were in Algeria this bike would be put better for next to nothing and we are such waster here in the west and i remmeeber your post and told him about your reulat car still on the road! I feel gutted i don't want to throw away the bike its new!!!! Living in algeria has had some postive effect on me, jjust before i left i sold 2 old bikes to the metal scrap man who comes by every morn for £10.
